Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Candidates having their age between  21 to 25 years as of 01 July 2026 are eligible to apply.

  • Age relaxation applies as below:

    • SC/ST candidates: 5 years only

    • Serving Coast Guard/Army/Navy/Air Force personnel: 5 years only

    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years only

Educational Qualification

  • General Duty (GD):

    • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum  of 60% marks from a recognized university.

    • Physics & Mathematics as a subject up to  Class 12th.

  • Technical (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics):

    • B.E./B.Tech in  the Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering with 60% marks.

    • Physics & Mathematics as a subject up to  Class 12th.

Selection Procedure

The ICG Assistant Commandant selection consists of five tier wise selection stages as under :

  1. Stage-I (CGCAT): A computer based test covering  questions from English, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Science, and General Knowledge (100 MCQs with  400 marks in  total).

  2. Stage-II (PSB): The preliminary Selection Board includes  the Cognitive Tests and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT).

  3. Stage-III (FSB): The final Selection Board involves Psychological Tests, Group Tasks, and Interviews at the  Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB), Noida.

  4. Stage-IV (Medical Examination): Conducted at  the Base Hospital, New Delhi to assess  the physical and medical fitness.

  5. Stage-V (Induction):  The selected candidates  shall have to undergo a  training  program at INA Ezhimala starting  from January 2027.

 A total of 18 months of rigorous training at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala is to be done by the candidates who are selected for the post. Upon successful completion, the candidates  will be commissioned as Assistant Commandants with a starting  monthly salary of ₹56,100 including the Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other  additional benefits.

Promotions are based on  the performance and service duration of the employee and are mentioned as under:

  • Deputy Commandant: After 2 years of service

  • Commandant (JG): After 6 years of service

  • Commandant: After 13 years of service
